The 4001IFD and 4002IFD diplexers are used for separating or combining satellite signals at 950-2050 MHz with VHF/UHF signals at 54-806 MHz. They include a high pass filter passing 950-2050 MHz and a low pass filter passing 54-806 MHz. In addition, a DC power pass is provided from the satellite port to the input in order to pass satellite receiver LNB voltage as shown in Fig. 1. In voltage switched systems, the receiver LNB voltage is nominally 13V for one polarization and 17V for the other.
The 4001IFD is Channel Master's standard performance diplexer. This unit is ideal for separating satellite signals from VHF/UHF off-air signals when they are received in the customer's living room on the same cable. This situation is common in multiple receiver installations such as when the signals are received from a multiswitch which also passes VHF/UHF signals. The satellite signals are then connected to the satellite receiver's 950-2050 MHz input, and the VHF/UHF signals are normally connected to the satellite receiver's VHF/UHF input. The satellite receiver then provides A/B switching as appropriate.
The 4002IFD offers higher performance (sharper cut-off at the corner frequencies) than the 4001 IFD. This is sometimes necessary when COMBINING satellite and VHF/UHF signals onto one cable because LNB noise extends down into the UHF spectrum and can degrade (add noise to) UHF TV reception if not adequately filtered out before connection to the distribution cable. The problem is more severe in Europe than in the US because the European UHF band extends to 860 MHz rather than 806 MHz. The 4002IFD offers no advantage over the 4001IFD when separating satellite IF from VHF/UHF signals, such as at the customer outlet.
Model 4003IFD is identical to Model 4001IFD, except that it is designed for mounting in a standard electrical box. A wall plate, F nuts and screws are included.
DIPLEXERS ARE HANDY IN DSS AND ANTENNA SYSTEMS. SEE DIAGRAM BELOW . A GOOD WAY TO USE DIPLEXERS TO JOIN IN A DSS SIGNAL FROM A RECEIVER RUN INTO A UHF MODULATOR AND THEN RUN INTO A MATV SYSTEM
