The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the Federal government agency in charge of administering the TV Converter Box Coupon Program at the direction of Congress. Between January 1, 2008, and March 31, 2009, U.S. households can request up to two coupons while supplies last, worth $40 each, to be used towards the purchase of up to two coupon-eligible converter boxes (CECB).

• Coupons are to be used only toward the purchase of a Coupon-Eligible Converter Box (CECB). Coupons will be electronically coded to be used for purchases of coupon-eligible converter boxes.

• Coupons expire 90 days after they are mailed and will have the expiration date printed on the coupon.

• The coupon value will be $40

• Each coupon is to be used for the purchase of one CECB only. The consumer may use two coupons only if two CECBs are being purchased.

• Each coupon is designed for one time use. If a coupon is presented for a second time the transaction will be denied.

• Consumers may not return a CECB to a retailer for a cash refund for the coupon amount or make an exchange for another item
